An Introduction to Islam

Although Islam is one of the world's largest religions with over 1 billion and a half adherents, for many, the image of Islam is unclear. Most see images of the Middle East or North Africa with Bedouins on their camels, Palestinians throwing rocks at Israeli police, or radical fundamentalists expounding their reasons for Jihad.

what is Islam?:
Many non Muslims are afraid of Islam, they believe that Islam is the religion of violence and terrorism. But, they forget that this religion is the most spread among Christian and non Christian nations .

Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that God (Allah) revealed through all His prophets to every people. For a fifth of the world's population, Islam is both a religion and a complete way of life. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority have nothing to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated with their faith.

The word "Islam" itself means "Submission to God." The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of "Christianity" which was named after Jesus Christ, "Buddhism" after Gutama Buddha , "Marxism" after Karl Marx, and "Confucianism" after Confucius.

Similarly, Islam is not named after a tribe like "Judaism" after the tribe of Judah and "Hinduism" after the Hindus. The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the will of the only true god worthy of worship, "Allah" (known as God "the Father" in Christianity).

Anyone who does indeed submit to the will of Allah as required by Islam is termed a "Muslim," which means one who has submitted to the will of Allah. Many people in the West have developed the sad misinformed trend of calling Islam "Muhammadenism" and it's followers "Muhammadins." This is a totally foreign word to Muslims and unrecognized by them. No Muslim has ever called his religion "Muhammadenism" or called himself a "Muhammadin."

<.....21- O ye people! Adore your Guardian-Lord, who created you and those who came before you, that you may become righteous;

22- Who has made the earth your couch, and the heavens your canopy; and sent down rain from the heavens; and brought forth therewith Fruits for your sustenance; then set not up rivals unto God when ye know (the truth).

23- And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Sura like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (If there are any) besides God, if your (doubts) are true.

24- But if ye cannot- and of a surety ye cannot- then fear the Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones,- which is prepared for those who reject Faith. ....>> sourat elbakara

<<..018.001 Praise be to God, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness:

018.002 (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward,

018.003 Wherein they shall remain for ever:

018.004 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "God hath begotten a son":

018.005 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood. sourat elkahf
